When Should a Pad Printing Pad Be Replaced?

Pad printing pads gradually lose their properties through mechanical wear and the chemical effects of inks and hardeners. A glossy surface, colour change, hardening, cracks and recurring loss of print quality can all indicate that replacement is due.

Trying to find a small usable area on a worn pad can lead to rejected parts, lost time and unnecessary material consumption. Timely replacement maintains consistent print quality.

How to extend pad life

• Use separate pads of the appropriate shape and hardness for different images.
• Where possible, allow a pad used for one shift to rest.
• Clean it gently with the adhesive side of packing tape.
• Do not clean with thinner, alcohol or aggressive solvents.
• Store in a clean, dust-free environment protected from impact and direct sunlight.
